and so isn't ours.
There is a time early in the winter morning when the sun is just rising over the adjacent mountains and the trees on the ridge in back of our house take on a gold hue for just a few minutes. We called that sunrise ridge and its where the farm name comes from.
Why did we set out to reclaim a farm from land that was mostly forested? Like all families, we want clean, safe food to put on the table. Free from hormones, antibiotics and all other genetically modified substances. We bought produce and beef from local farms. Our neighbors raised large animals. One trip we asked jokingly if we could buy the whole cow live and the answer was sure. So we said why not. That started our journey.
